Feline Specialist

Did you know that Lake Olympia has a veterinarian that specializes in feline medicine? Dr. Mary McCaine is a board-certified Feline Specialist, certified by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in feline medicine.

Why Choose an ABVP Feline Specialist? Dr. McCaine is one of a very small group of veterinarians who have earned the title Feline Specialist from the ABVP. In fact, there are fewer than 100 Feline Specialists in the entire world, making this a rare achievement!  www.abvp.com/specialists

What does that mean? It means these veterinarians made a choice to undergo a long and difficult process of additional studies and examination to become a board-certified specialist recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). This process takes a minimum of three years to complete, and the motivation behind it is, very simply, excellence. ABVP Diplomates have proven knowledge and expertise above and beyond what is required to practice veterinary medicine. Additionally, they have earned the privilege to specialize in the treatment of one or more categories of animals. Dr. McCaine currently works on Monday and Tuesdays and consults with the veterinarians on our team on other days as needed.  While specializing in feline medicine with a special interest in senior felines and behavior problems, she also treats our canine friends.  (Her pet family includes a Golden Retriever named Taylor).
